Hearing Protection and Recreational Earpieces
|
Custom-fit earpieces for communication or
hearing protection provide consistent fit. Users can take
advantage of custom-fit earpieces for a variety of
applications, whether it's swimming, listening to music,
shooting, or motor sports. Tests conducted by the United
States Air Force Research Laboratory suggest that participants
who wear custom-fit hearing protection experience a greater
consistency of fit and attenuation than those using generic
over-the-counter products.
SPECIAL NOTE: Care should
be taken when looking at the attenuation factors for earmolds
that are not rated. Not rated earpieces are for comfort
(reduce noise from snoring) or for custom fit earmolds for
earbud or in-ear monitor plugs. They should not be used
as hearing protection from loud environments that OSHA
requires employees to wear hearing protection.
